MSQHYA is the official state affiliate to the American Quarter Horse Youth Association (AQHYA). Not only does MSQHYA promote the American Quarter Horse, we seek to encourage the development of leadership, initiative, self-reliance, sportsmanship as well as other desirable traits of character. MSQHYA also promotes safety as well as teaching and learning of horsemanship, care and handling of horses.The Youth Association  hosts a variety of activities and programs too. Some members also try to attend the YES Conference (Youth Excellence Seminar)  in Amarillo, Texas.
